Genius

So, we've been hard at work cloth diapering for a few days. And for those of you who don't know, these are not your mama's cloth diapers. No pins, no diaper service. We've been using bumGenius, which look like this...

...and you stuff the pocket (tough to see, but there's an opening at the top) with one of these...

...and snap it up like so...

**realized I need a pic here. I'll take it tomorrow and add it in. Oops!**

...and you have a super cute toosh!

The dirty details: "solids" get  tossed in the toilet, and anything still stuck on the diaper gets blasted off with the diaper sprayer - pretty much like a handheld shower head that hooks into your toilet line. All wet/dirty diapers and wipes yep, those are re-usable cloth ones too get thrown into a "wet bag" (plastic lined cloth bag which zips closed to keep any stink in) - it's in the corner of that top picture (hanging off my bookshelf). Once a day (or every other if I ever buy enough diapers) I grab the wet bag, carry it down to the washer, unzip, dump out the contents and toss the bag on top. Put in an dallop (literally - no more than 1/2 tablespoon!) of laundry detergent, and set the washer for the hottest wash cycle with a double rinse. Then the whole shebang goes in the dryer for an hour, and I'm ready to re-stuff, re-snap, and go!

No Mom, no foot fetish. She just has super cute feet.

The only drawback so far with our system is that each time you change the diaper, you change the whole thing - which happens about 8 times a day - and is no big deal at home, or when we are close to home. But if we were to go away for the weekend, we would need to take at least 20 diapers. And that's a lot of fluff! (refer to top picture. See how fluffy that orange one is? Now picture 20.) So we are going to try another kind of diaper, which hasn't arrived yet, but I'll do pics and details of that one when they arrive.

A "Good Morning!" stare from a healing girl...

I braved the wilds of another Mom meet-up today, and a made a friend... and another... and another! And found out that they don't come to the Mom meet-up at the mall very often because they just don't really like the other ladies that go, and invited me to come to some of the meet-ups they go to regularly. Where, they claim, are more people "like us" - friendly, warm, non-judgemental. One of THOSE. Maybe, just maybe, I'll have some friends in this town after all.

I realized I have a lot of collages of the little one, so here's a few featuring just the big one...

Sleep tight.

Gorgeous girls, Kel! And Addy's cloth-covered tushie is super cute. I will share pictures of Harry's as soon as the diapers arrive! :-)
